For those of us who are too busy to live, the concept of having to wield a lip pencil, then a lip stick, then a gloss for that perfect runway lip is absolutely ridiculous. Who has that kind of TIME, people?!? Well, get involved with a new makeup trend that will make your life easier and your lips ridiculous lush: the fat lip pencil.
These are miracle products that can seriously make your whole beauty routine faster. It’s gorgeous lip color in the shape of a fat little pencil, which means that it acts as a liner and a lip gloss/stick all in one. You outline and fill in under half the time and the colors are gorgeous!
Which ones should you consider? Here are my favorites and ALL of them are in my makeup bag right this minute:
Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Colour Lip Balm ($15) – Think super-hydrating with a light color that builds beautifully and stays put. Everyone MUST get your hands on the Chubby Stick in Richer Raisin, the super chic new cousin of their cult-favorite Black Honey, a universally-flattering shade. Plus, it swivels up and down so there’s no extra step of sharpening.
Tarte LipSurgence™ Natural Matte Lip Tint
Another personal favorite that also has swivel technology (this is important, people – how many of you have struggled to find a good sharpener or lost yours right when the product was digging into your lip? UGH.) The gorgeous hues go on glossy and potent (it’s a good dose of color) and increase the moisture of your lips while they – wait for it – give you the appearance of a naturally plump lip. YES. Those who love pink should go for Lively, while women with deeper skin tones might want to try Exposed, a gorgeous nude.
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil and NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil ($24 each) – Leave it to Francois Nars to create two impossibly cool lip pencils with the gorgeous hydrating formulas of his lipsticks and glosses. Makeup artists across the red carpet use these genius products for quick camera-ready lips in a flash. Those of us who love red lips (and if you don’t, you should) need to get our hands on the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl (a matte siren red – MEOW!) and if glossy is more your speed, get the Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in Frivolous, a shimmering seashell pink.
Who says you don’t have the time to do a perfect lip? With any of these four lip pencil products, you can and you SHOULD.
How to use them: These products are impossibly easy to apply. Simply start with dry lips and draw along the lip line, then fill in. So easy!
Where to wear them: Everywhere!
Where to buy them: The easiest place in the world: Sephora.
