Contributor Ashley Parker took in the Cynthia Rowley Spring 2012 Collection. Here is her recap and review:
Cynthia Rowley has made a name for herself for decades with a quirky style that frequently nods to historical references from the 60′s. A designer whose clothes have made an impact in mass market and in collaborations with more consumer-ready brands like Roxy, the interest in this runway presentation was more that palpable. What would she send down the runway and how would it impact the audience?
Well, to the delight of the crowd and buyers alike, the show was spectacular. Her Spring 2012 collection was young, edgy, powerful and beautifully artistic. Clearly geared toward a younger, edgier crowd, the Rowley’s show was described as a “flash mobs of floral and animated shape,s” alive with bold painterly patterns, glittering gold hues and fabulous textures. The leggings were to die for, the silk A-Line dresses were breathtaking, the blazers were chic and don’t even get me started on the rock n roll inspired leather mesh tops and skirts.
Every detail Rowley created this season seamed to literally turn to gold. Modeled marched down a midus touched gold metallic runway accessorize in patchwork doctor bags to belts to flash lens eye-wear. It was a collection I would wear and I would suggest that anyone who loves vibrant, youthful hues and silhouettes do the same.
