One of my lifelong friends used to be my roommate. Her name is Kat. Although we’re no longer roommates (she’s married and living in North Carolina now and, you know, we’re not 27,) I remember our single gal days with a tremendous amount of humor.
Among many stories I can tell about Kat (and, sadly for you, none of the REALLY good ones will be told here), I have two things I can say about my college friend. One is that she knows every word to this song by the Barenaked Ladies:
The other (other than the fact that she’s HILARIOUS) is that she has the best Parking Karma at Target. That is to say, it doesn’t matter what time of day or night we have ever been to said big box retailer, she can get a spot right in front of the store.
It was that awesome Parking Karma that aided in our first experience with the original Herbal Essences. As a matter of fact I’m sure that song was playing.
You know the shampoo and conditioner that caused practically orgasmic sensations from the 90′s? Allow me to refresh your memory:
After discovering said shampoo and conditioner via this commercial, we went straight to Target that night (where our parking space was waiting, naturally) and picked up a couple of bottles of it. We made jokes about the commercial and retreated to our respective sides of our condo to, you know, give it a whirl.
And that was when we emerged with fantastically-shiny, amazingly-scented hair with tingly scalps and knowing smiles. Good stuff, kids.
Needless to say, there’s a soft spot for the OG formula of Herbal Essences in my heart, and IT’S BACK. As in, those people who petitioned for it to come back led the way and it’s on like Donkey Kong:
- The Shine Collection is infused with a blend of chamomile, passion flower and aloe vera for cleansing that reveals a gorgeous shine with a silky texture.
- The Smooth Collection combines an infusion blend of Vitamin E, rose hips, and jojoba extracts for soft & smooth hair.
The formulas have been improved. The shampoos are silicone-free and the conditioners are sulfate-free. The shampoos, however, are not sulfate-free. Just a quick note for those who can’t use sulfates. If you can use sulfates, go nuts. The formulas are great.
How to get them: these new formulas won’t be on shelves until the end of the month of January 2013, BUT the brand is holding a flash sale on their facebook page on January 10th. Click for more information and to get your hands on the stuff of shampoo legend.
That’s two days from now. Mark your calendars.
And you don’t even need a friend with good parking karma to drive. How cool is that?
But crank up the Barenaked Ladies when you hit the Facebook flash sale. You know, for old time’s sake.
