We all know about my eternal love and devotion for Diane von Furstenberg. So, let’s just say that after meeting her at a Bergdorf Goodman book signing and then getting an invitation to shoot the DVF 2013 Pre-Fall Collection, I was doing the Happy Dance of Fashion.
Which is to say that I tried to act all cool and calm in public, then when I got to my apartment, I danced like a idiot and jumped up and down.
Allow me to say that upon entering DVF HQ (aka “Mecca”), you’re stunned with the light pouring down the staircase, swathed in crystals that seems to lead straight to the sky. You look to your left and right and there are Warhols everywhere. If her motto is “Life is love, love is life” then she has certainly brought that into every aspect of her being. It’s simple and every note simply sings with elegance.
The collection is called “London Calling” and speaks to the Diane’s musings about what it would be like to dress like a man as a woman. As in, to enjoy the delights of being all it means to be a female wrapped in the clothes of a man. It’s an interesting thought, no?
It’s inspired by the incredible fashion of some of her favorite male fashion heroes from 60′s London, like Mick Jagger.
It is, in a word, amazing and totally covet-worthy.
Well, that’s two words, but you know what I mean. I know what I like and I LOVE DVF.
Here are my favorites from the collection. Which ones do you love?
